Robin recently recieved a WRoCAH studentship to pursue a PhD at the University of York, supervised by Martin Suckling. This will begin in October 2018.

Over 2018, Robin will be working on a new 6 minute piece for the Ligeti Quartet, facilitated by the Centre for New Music at Sheffield. On the 16th of March, his piece 1936 for large ensemble and two narrators will be premiered at Queen Mary University by conductor Matthew Hardy and East London Music Group.

Robin has been selected for the PRS Accelerate scheme. For this, he will write a new piece for the Berkeley Ensemble that will be performed on the 22nd of November 2018, under the mentorship of John Woolrich.

In Feyre Foreste has won a British Composer Award in the small chamber category. The award ceremony took place on the 6th of December, at the British Museum in London. The piece was premiered in January 2017 at the Royal Academy of Music, performed by Tabea Debus, Olwen Foulkes, Kristina Greally, Oscar Gormley, and Katherine Jones.

Zorthern is now available to pre-order on NMC Recordings. It will be released on the 26th of January 2018, alongside works by Emma Wilde, Alex Hall, Jack Sheen, Joanna Ward, and Peter Wilson.

He has also been selected to attend Festival Mixtur in Barcelona in 2018, for which he will write a new baritone saxophone piece for Joan-Martí Frasquier, under the tutelage of Joao Oliveira, as well as attending lectures and masterclasses by composers such as Rebecca Saunders and Carola Bauckholt.

Robin has been selected by the London Symphony Orchestra as one of four composers to take part in their Soundhub scheme, which will lead to a performance of a new work at LSO St. Luke’s on the 14th of July 2018 by members of the orchestra. He will be mentored by Michael Zev Gordon.

He was also recently selected for Psappha‘s ‘Composing for Guzheng’ scheme, for which he will write a new piece for Guzheng (Chinese zither) to be played by Zi Lan Liao.

In August, Robin was awarded the Royal Academy of Music’s Eric Coates Prize for his orchestral piece Movado. On the 13th of September, his concert project ‘Hab ich verlernt!‘ will take place at the Royal Academy of Music, marking his final event there as a masters student. On the 28th of September, soprano Jessica Summers and pianist Jelena Makarova will perform the UK premiere of his song Humming-bird, as well as world premieres of Butterfly and When the Wind Blows Her Veil at All Saints Church in Hove.

Robin has recently been selected as one of six young composers to participate in Sound and Music’s Next Wave 2 scheme. For this, he will write a piece for members of the Royal Northern Sinfonia and Luke Carver Goss that will be performed at the Sage Gateshead on the 27th of January 2018, and released on NMC Recordings. Over the course of this project, he will be mentored by Errollyn Wallen and David Horne.
